Lose weight and keep it off

Losing weight isn't about "dieting". Dieting doesn't work. Diet is - simply - the foods we eat. Losing weight isn't about feeling guilty or denying oneself. Losing weight is about eating a balanced diet that you enjoy and not feeling guilty about occasional treats.

One of the reasons many people have difficulty losing weight is because they don't know what to eat to make them slim. They think that it's a matter of cutting down on their existing dietary habits, which often requires a complete overhaul.

Using hypnosis to assist you in losing weight will greatly improve your chances of achieving your goal

Our body is incredible - it knows when it isn't receiving the nourishment it requires by causing us to feel hungry. The problem arises when we don't give it what it truly requires…

If you've been "dieting" - that is cutting down on the existing amount of food you normally consume - you'll most likely find that by the end of the first day you're craving more food. Perhaps you'll manage a couple of days like this, even a couple of weeks but sooner or later you'll go to the cupboard and eat everything in sight! Is this true for you? Let me explain why this happens…

There's a part of your brain that operates your basic survival requirements in order to keep you alive. When you cut down on calories, your blood sugar levels drop and your brain signals 'hunger' to urge you to eat. These subconscious urges are far too strong for you to override against your own will power.

Furthermore, your brain doesn't know how much fat you have stored up in your body and when it's threatened with starvation - instead of using up the excess fat - and if you're not exercising - will reduce muscle tissue instead!

According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, ghrelin is produced in the stomach cells to signal the brain when the body needs energy. When ghrelin production increases, you get hunger pangs and your metabolism slows down, burning fat at a lower rate.

Dr. David Cummings, of the University of Washington, explains, "The rise of ghrelin as a result of dieting is a part of the body's normal adaptive response to famine - the body interprets dieting as starvation."

In other words, people who use crash diets, depriving themselves of needed caloric intake, are fighting against a human survival mechanism that gets stronger the more the body is deprived. Studies show that when dieters lose weight too rapidly, their daily ghrelin levels increased by as much as 24%. That's why most crash dieters gain back their weight - and more - when they abandon the crash diet.

We all know that in order to lose weight we must reduce our calorie intake, so how do we do that without triggering the hunger mechanisms in the brain?

The key is eating for health rather than eating to lose weight. Eating a balanced diet doesn't mean deprivation, because when your body has all the nutrients it requires, it doesn't 'demand' more food.

However, when we eat ready-made fast foods, crisps, chocolate, alcohol, fizzy drinks and cakes, etc., because the body isn't getting enough 'nutrition' from these types of foods, it 'asks' for more food in order to compensate. All these extra 'empty' calories merely provide extra body fat.

Also bear in mind that a 'thirsty signal' can often be mistaken for a 'hunger signal'. When the body is dehydrated, it just sends out a 'craving message' - so before you reach for food, take a good long drink of clear, refreshing water instead - no calories in that!

It goes without saying that in order to achieve a slim, healthy body, getting started with some form of exercise is essential. Do I hear you groaning? Yes, it's difficult to find the motivation to get started but the rewards will be so well worth it. Besides, once you do get started and make exercising a regular event, you will have set up a new and beneficial neural pathway (habit) in the brain.

Eat for health, exercise more and accompany this with hypnosis audio recordings and you'll be happily on the road to success.
